Cooma is the gateway to the Snowy Mountains and Perisher and Thredbo are only 1 hour and 15 minutes from The Swiss Motel Cooma. Selwyn Snow Resort is 1 hour and 20 minutes.

But if you don’t ski or snowboard…..?

Cooma is only 1 hour and 10 minutes to the entrance to the Snowy Mountains Kosciuszko National Park where you can hike, bike and explore to your heart's content. But if you prefer something closer to home:

Snowy Hydro Discovery Centre

Snowy Mountains Hydro Discovery Centre and Cafe has a fascinating display on the Snowy Hydro projects and the people that built them. It’s a 3 minute drive from the mote or a 25 minute walk.

Corrective Services Museum

The Corrective Services NSW Museum showcases the History of NSW Corrections since 1788. It contains information, displays and artefacts from convict days to the present and is a 2 minute drive, or 10 minute walk, from the motel. 

Cooma Monaro Railway

The Cooma Monaro Railway is a not-for-profit heritage railway museum that is actively restoring the Cooma Railway Precinct while working on the restoration of tourist trains along the section of track on the Bombala line between Cooma and the terminus at Bombala. It’s a two minute drive or a 15 minute walk from the motel. 

Snowy Scheme Museum

The Snowy Scheme Museum is in the picturesque town of Adaminaby, 40 minutes drive from Cooma. The museum is a fascinating stop and has a huge amount of history on the snowy schemes including old machinery, information on the people who built it, and Adaminaby is a lovely spot to stop for lunch. 

Fishing

Fly Fishing is available in Lake Eucumbene and the local rivers, and we hear there is great trout in Lake Jindabyne and in the surrounding rivers.

Mountain Biking

Mountain Biking is available in a variety of locations nearby and is a great summer adventure in the area.
